Selecting the proper agency to handle your investigation is a very important decision, and one that should be handled with great care and diligence. The investigative firm should have the highest ethical standards, as well as the experience to properly handle your case. Provided below are additional tips or questions that a prospective client should ask any agency they intend to entrust with their valuable personal information and hard earned money:
- If “flat rate” billing is involved, ask how many hours of on-site surveillance time is included. Does that fee include travel, mileage, etc.?
- You should be able to receive a copy of the video (if applicable) in any format you wish, as long as the agency has that capability. If “flat rate” billing is involved, your copy of this video should be included in the price.
- You should be able to receive a comprehensive, chronological report of investigation on every case.
- You should receive a detailed invoice covering all time spent on the investigation.
- Ask the agency if they have any complaints against them with the Division of Licensing.
- Ask for a copy of the agency license AND insurance.
- Ensure that the actual investigator who will work the case is individually licensed with the State of Florida AND with the agency.
- Is the investigator effectively equipped to obtain video in any type of situation or environment that your surveillance may require?
- Ask the agency when your case would be started and how long it will take to complete the investigation.
- Ask the agency what their update procedure is? How and when will they let you know what is going on with your case? (Some agencies intentionally only provide updates at the END of an assignment to avoid losing some of the original budget)
- Ask for others who can provide a reference for the agency.
